You know you're on chemo when...
Hi everyone. I thought I'd start a thread to try and find the funny side of chemo, as I truly feel as though I've had my funny bone removed. Usually my sense of humour is what defines me and gets me through the hard parts of life. I don't know how you all feel but I've struggled to find myself in the last 6 weeks since my journey began, and now as I approach my 2nd chemo treatment, I could do with a boost by people who are travelling a similar road to mine.
So I'll start off, and I hope you can share your funny experiences with me....
Taxotere
I had my 2nd cycle of TC yesterday. During the first cycle (3 weeks ago) I had an instant reaction to the Taxotere, with shortness of breath. The nurses took me off it, gave me some ventolin and then began the infusion again but much slower. This time my reaction was far quicker, more severe, and now I have been taken off Taxotere altogether. I only ended up having the Cyclophosphamide yesterday and will meet with my oncologist on Thursday to discuss my future regime. I am extremely anxious and nervous about this because I am afraid of having missed out on one
Claxane injections
Hi all... Hope everyone is well.
I am writing this from my hospital bed after getting a very sore back and short of breath day 5 after my second chemo. Hoping to go home today, 5 days after admission.
I have been diagnosed with two clots on my lungs and have started on Claxane injections twice a day. A great way to overcome my needle phobia. This morning with a few tears I injected myself. My understanding is that I will be on the injections twice daily through chemo then once daily for life.
Newby
Hi everyone. I'm new here. My name is Jo. I'm 35, live in Melbourne and work at the zoo. I'm separated from my husband and we're getting a divorce this year.
I found a lump in my left breast in December, had an ultrasound on the 29th, followed by FNA on the 6th Jan and was diagnosed with early breast cancer on the 10th Jan. My lumpectomy was on the 13th (yes it was a Friday!), and I started chemo on the 27th.
AKM78 Passing
Andrea passed from our sight on 6 December 2011, her husband was at her side. We will miss her always.
